This page explains how Easy Critical CSS handles repeated failures during Automatic Generation.
This behavior only applies when Auto mode is enabled and requires an active license.
What this feature does
When automatic generation fails repeatedly for the same page, Easy Critical CSS detects the pattern and shows a warning in the admin.
This helps you identify pages that are being blocked and prevents the plugin from retrying endlessly.
When a warning appears
A warning appears when:
- The same page fails automatic generation 3 times in a row
When this happens, Easy Critical CSS will:
- Show a warning at the top of the global settings page
- Pause automatic retries for 6 hours
This pause helps protect your site and avoids unnecessary background requests.
If you are seeing this warning, the sections below explain what is most likely causing it and what to do next.
Common causes
Automatic generation failures are usually caused by:
- Caching plugins blocking external requests
- Firewall or security rules
- Bot protection or WAF settings
- Slow or unreachable pages
What you should do
You have two options when a warning appears.
Option 1: Fix the issue and regenerate
Update your caching or security settings so the generator can access the page. Then manually regenerate Critical CSS.
If generation succeeds, the warning will disappear automatically.
Option 2: Wait for automatic retry
After 6 hours, Easy Critical CSS will attempt automatic generation again.
If the issue has been resolved, generation will succeed and normal behavior resumes.
Important notes
- This only applies to Automatic Generation
- Manual mode is not affected
- A successful generation resets the failure count
This feature is designed to make automatic generation more reliable and easier to manage.
